Overview

The cook prepares and serves meals daily to children and staff while maintaining a clean kitchen and work environment. This position requires the candidate to be detailed, respond, and adapt positively to feedbacks in a timely manner.

Day-to-Day Work
  • Prepares and cooks to order foods that may require short preparation time.
  • Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving meals and snacks.
  • Reads food order or receives verbal instructions, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.
  • Understand basic dining and classroom dining set-up and deliver and clear food and materials accordingly.
  • Follows posted mealtime schedule.
  • Properly follow the procedure for disposing of kitchen waste materials and keeps the kitchen clean.
  • Follows proper dishwashing procedures, including pots and pans and logs.
  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
  • May receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
